Wednesday Bike Beating
Dang. I mean dang. The strongest wind that I have ever biked in. I got dropped after about 6 miles. Man I need some work. 11 - 12 mph on the flats into the wind.
My only motivation was knowing at some point the wind would be at my back. The only good news is that my new wireless computer worked well.
23.78 miles
16.9 ave mph (higher than I expected)
76 ave cadence
1:27 time
159 AHR (that's some hard work on a bike)

Monday Dog Run
Goal Run - a nice slow run with a low heart rate below 140 AHR a 9:30 - 9:45 pace. I wanted to enjoy day.
Actual Run - a hot sweaty run with a 146 AVR 10:20 pace. 51:31
80 degrees at about 80 percent humidity.
Not what I had in mind. Even Triger got winded.

Wed. morning swim/ DSU Bike
Swim:
40 minutes
Approx 2,000 yds.
Felt a little stronger today.
Bike:
1:24 time
23.66 miles
159 AHR
It was a gut check for me. A (good?) hard ride. I hit it as hard as I could and finished a few minutes behind Peter. I could not hang with the 25 mph and lost them about 3/4 through the ride. I am tired just typing this blog.

Sunday Run
5 miles
8:48 pace
I need to check my "5 mile"course. My guess is it may be a little short.
43:58
156 AHR
Dog run.
OK, I checked it out. My 5 mile course is 4 .75 miles long.
Instead of a 8:48 pace - 9:15.
I now have the 5 miler marked off. Next run should be accurate.
Disappointed? No too much since I am "tri-ing not so hard".

Wed. morning swim/ afternoon run
40 minute swim
approx 2000 yds.
Just laps, no flips. I felt ok about the swim nothing great. I didn't want to press too hard.
5 miles
Probably about the same as yesterday although I stopped for a couple of minutes to watch a Lacrosse game.
Dog run.
The reason I always mention the dog is that the dang thing slows me down. After about a mile we stop at a trash can - he takes a dump - I pick it up. Yes he has trained me well. Then I let him on and off the leash a few times while we run. Come to think of it I may be running 8:00 minute miles just like my man crush.

Saturday Bike
1:57 Time
16.7 Ave. Speed
30 Miles
151 AHR
176 MHR
First ride on the new bike. It was great. Very smooth, no doubt that the full carbon makes for a much nicer ride. I did reach for the drops a couple of times and was surprised to find that they are no longer there. I moved around allot on the "tri saddle" to experiment with different positions. It was a good start to the season. My legs aren't strong enough yet to get into the high gears, but I hope to gain on it as the Wed. rides start up.
A+ for the overall experience.
Rode with Peter, Jimmy and Sarah. Lot's of new faces and some old.
