Sunday Bike

It was cold, but not as bad as some whiners (Peter) might lead you to believe. My real problem was my legs, or lack of legs.
It felt like my breaks were locked - no kidding at one point I looked down just to make sure. First time on the bike in quite awhile and it showed.
Well, I guess it’s a start.
23 miles
15.3 avg mph (according to Peters blog)
I must get back on my indoor trainer.

New Bike

By the way I just bought a 2007 Trek Equinox 11.

Sunday Run

10 slow miles. Perfect weather. First 5 with the dog, second 5 alone. Gel at the start and halfway point. 32 oz of Accelerade. A good run.

Friday Swim

Man what a stinker. The last swim was great this one - not so much. I started with trying some flip turns. Other than swallowing about a gallon of water, feeling like I was going to throw up and getting a head ache it all went well. So I swam about 1,200yards and went home with my tail between my legs.

Y Treadmill

5 miles, 47 minutes.
Too cold outside.

Sunday Swim

50 minutes of lap swimming at the Y. It was a very good swim, I don't know why but I really enjoyed it.
At 2 minutes a 100 the total distance would be about 2500, my guess is around 2,200 yards.
At the end of the swim I tried some flip turns - with not much success. I am going to try a few every swim to see if I can gain on it.

Saturday Run

5 miles, 47:35, AHR 150.
Same problem with monitor.

Longhorn Ironman 70.3

I guess that I need to anounce that I have signed up for a Half Ironman.
Peter and I will be heading to Austin for the Tri on October 5th. So now I have a long term goal.
I am still working on the rest of the '08 schedule.
I am looking forward to being in 70.3 shape.

Thursday Run - Brookhaven

6 miles, 59:00 minutes.
Temperature at start 38º, at finish 36º. Well, now I know that sub 40º is not to cold to run in.
I am not sure the my heart monitor is working right. For the first mile and half my HR is 177. It does not feel that high. After about 2 miles is drops to below 150. My running pace does not change.
1. should warm up slower for a mile.
2. HR monitor has to warm up.
Next time I am going to start out walking and see what happens.

Wed. Swim

Just me and Doc in the DA (DSU) side of the pool. If you don't count about 30 TRI101er's that Tom had in the other half of the pool. He has a big group.
I just swam. Did some drill, but mostly just swam. It has been more than a month since the last time I was in a pool.
Approximately - 1,200 yards.
Need to build back up. A little left shoulder pain - just old age.

Dog run

And so Scott chimes in with "goals are not the enemy". Well, well let's get all philosophical. Now Scott makes the “I am not a fan of” list. The list is getting too long. I may have to adjust my thinking.

Run - 43:26 time, distance? a little less than 5 miles, Probable around a 9 minute pace.

It all begins

My friend, Jimmy, called letting me know that he was making some new years resolutions was going to send them to me so that I could help hold him accountable. Now Jimmy is the guy who got me into this mess by making me ride in the MS150 in 2006. He is already a better biker than me but I believe that he is going to be setting some hard goals. I already knew that I didn’t like Peter (he tries to hard) and D’ (she tries to hard) and Eric (he is too young) and now Jimmy want to set goals. Dang it, why can’t we just all get along. Now what do I do? Man up or lay down? Go through the year fat, dumb and happy or do I follow my peers and “set goals” that I have to stretch to reach. I will be sore, less fat, still dumb, more marital conflicts but maybe just a little happier.

I haven’t decided yet.

Tuesday night run: 4 miles 35:10, 8:48 pace
